President Lu Attending the Farewell Reception for Consul General of the United S


         On Aug. 26, 2014, Mr. Lu Kai, President of CCIE attended the Farewell Reception for Mr. Peter Haymond, Consul General of the United States in Chengdu by invitation.
 
         Mr. Peter Haymond started the post for Consul General of the United States in Chengdu from Sep. 2011. From Aug.2008 to Sep. 2011, He was the Deputy Ambassador of Consulate General of the United States in Vientiane, Laos. As a diplomat of State Department of the United States with over 20 years’ experience, Mr. Peter Haymond has worked in American embassies in China, Laos, Tailand and South Korea, and he also worked in the State Department Office of Energy Policy in Washington, Office of Anti-terrorism and Office of Multilateral Economic Development. Mr. Peter Haymond received his Ph. D. in Economics in Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy in Tufts University and Masters Degree in International Affairs and Economics in Brigham Young University. He speaks Lao, Tai, Chinese and some French.
         At the reception, Mr. Peter Haymond shared that it is his great honor to be the Consul General of the United States in Chengdu to service south west China and the stay in Chengdu would become his best memories. Within the three years, the exchanges and cooperation between Sichuan and the United States has been enhanced and promoted, give him great confidence in the development of China – US relationship and in the great potential of Sichuan for further development. Mr. Peter fully believes that Sichuan and the United State will engaged in deeper cooperation and Scihuan will welcome a better and faster development. After returning to the United State, Mr. Peter Haymond will hold the post of Director of the State Department Office of China and Mongolia Affairs.
